OLT Management

Manage your fiber network infrastructure with OLT (Optical Line Terminal) integration.

What is an OLT?

An OLT (Optical Line Terminal) is the service provider’s endpoint in a fiber optic network. It connects to ONUs/ONTs at customer premises through fiber cables.

Zettabit can connect to supported OLTs to:

  • View connected ONUs
  • Monitor signal levels
  • Check connection status
  • Manage customer fiber connections

Supported Vendors

Zettabit supports the following OLT vendors:

VendorProtocol
BDCOMSNMP
VSOLSNMP
ZibbixSNMP

Use Cases

Customer Troubleshooting

  1. Customer reports slow or no connection
  2. Check ONU status in Zettabit
  3. View signal levels
  4. Identify if it’s a fiber issue (low signal) or equipment issue (ONU offline)

Network Planning

  • Monitor ONU counts per port
  • Identify heavily loaded PON ports
  • Plan upgrades based on capacity

Proactive Maintenance

  • Set up alerts for degrading signals
  • Identify ONUs that may fail soon
  • Schedule preventive maintenance

Troubleshooting

OLT Shows Offline

  1. Check network connectivity to OLT
  2. Verify management IP is correct
  3. Check SNMP community string
  4. Ensure no firewall blocking

ONU Data Not Updating

  1. Force sync the OLT
  2. Check OLT credentials
  3. Verify SNMP/Telnet access

Missing ONUs

  1. ONU might be newly added - sync again
  2. Check if ONU is registered on OLT
  3. Verify PON port is included in monitoring
