Package Naming Best Practices

Choose clear, descriptive names:

Good Examples:

  • “10 Mbps Monthly”
  • “Premium 20M - 30 Days”
  • “Business Unlimited Monthly”

Avoid:

  • “Package 1”
  • “New Package”
  • “Test”

Pricing Considerations

When setting prices:

  • Consider your costs and margins
  • Check competitor pricing
  • Account for any taxes (if applicable)
  • Round to convenient numbers

Validity Period Tips

  • Weekly (7 days) - Good for prepaid/casual users
  • Monthly (30 days) - Standard for most customers
  • Quarterly (90 days) - Discount for longer commitment
  • Yearly (365 days) - Best value, highest upfront

PPPoE Profile Association

Packages are associated with PPPoE profiles through subscriptions. When creating a subscription, you select both the package (for billing) and the profile is determined by the client’s server configuration.

Editing a Package

To modify an existing package:

  1. Find the package in the list
  2. Click the Edit button
  3. Update the fields
  4. Click Save

Important Notes on Editing

  • Changes don’t affect existing subscriptions
  • Only new subscriptions use updated values
  • Consider creating a new package instead of editing if significantly different

Deactivating a Package

To stop offering a package without deleting it:

  1. Edit the package
  2. Set Active to No/Off
  3. Save

The package will:

  • Not appear for new subscriptions
  • Continue working for existing subscriptions
  • Remain in your package list for reference

Deleting a Package

To permanently remove a package:

  1. Find the package in the list
  2. Click the Delete button
  3. Confirm deletion

Deletion Requirements

You can only delete a package if:

  • No active subscriptions use it
  • It’s not referenced in subscription history (depends on system settings)

Troubleshooting

”Cannot delete package with active subscriptions”

Move all subscribers to a different package first, then delete.

”Price format invalid”

Enter a number without currency symbols. Use decimals if needed (e.g., “999.99”).

”Validity must be positive”

Enter a number greater than 0 for the validity days.

Best Practices

  1. Consistent naming - Use a standard format across all packages
  2. Clear differentiation - Make it obvious what each package offers
  3. Limited options - Too many packages confuse customers (5-8 is ideal)
  4. Regular review - Update packages based on market conditions
